Who We Are
Clu3 is a daily word puzzle game operated by Miss Sunshine Media LTD, trading as Brandstart (brandstart.io), the data controller responsible for your personal data. For any privacy or data protection questions, email us at hello@brandstart.io. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
What We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the game experience:
- Account data -- If you create an account, your email address and credentials are managed by our authentication provider, Clerk. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider.
- Game progress -- Your daily puzzle state, guess history, and statistics are stored in your browser's local storage. If you are signed in, this data is also synced to our database so it persists across devices.
- Analytics -- We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with Clu3 (pages visited, time on site, country). This data is anonymized and aggregated. Analytics are only loaded if you accept cookies.
- Preferences -- Your language preference and cookie consent choice are stored in local storage on your device.
- Security data -- We briefly process your IP address to prevent abuse and rate-limit requests (for example, rapid repeated guesses). This is used transiently for security and is not stored long-term.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide and maintain the game experience
- To sync your progress across devices when you are signed in
- To understand usage patterns and improve the game
- To send important service-related communications (if applicable)
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising beyond anonymized analytics.
Third-Party Services
Clu3 relies on the following third-party services:
- Clerk -- Authentication and account management. Their privacy policy is available at clerk.com/legal/privacy.
- Neon -- Database hosting for your synced game progress. Their privacy policy is available at neon.tech/privacy-policy.
- Vercel -- Website hosting and content delivery. Vercel processes technical request data such as IP addresses in its server logs. Their privacy policy is available at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Google Analytics -- Anonymized usage analytics, loaded only with your consent. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google OAuth -- If you choose to sign in with Google. Subject to Google's privacy policy linked above.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data at any time
- Correct inaccurate information in your account
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time by clearing your browser data

Data Retention
We keep your account data and game statistics for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, the associated data is removed from our database. Game progress stored in your browser's local storage stays until you clear it. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' retention settings.
International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers (Clerk, Google, and Vercel) are based in the United States, so your data may be processed outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Children's Privacy
Clu3 is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of Clu3 after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
